Scope and Contents
The Newspaper Clipping Files Collection, 1913-2010 covers a number of subjects relating to the city, citizenry, organizations and events connected to the city of Perris. Some of the more prominent individuals included in this collection include, but are not limited to, the following: Frederick Thomas Perris, namesake of the city of Perris; A.W. and J.F. Hook, Perris pioneers with their Hook Brothers Mercantile; the Bernasconi family, Perris pioneers with their Southern Hotel. Prominent organizations featured in this collection include, but are not limited to, the following: the Perris Valley Museum and Historical Association, the parent organization of the Perris Valley Museum Historical Archives, and the Orange Empire Railway Museum, a world-renowned railroading museum. Some of the events highlighted in this collection include, but are not limited to, the following: the annual Potato Festival, which celebrates the city of Perris’s agricultural history; and Fred T. Perris Day, a day named in honor of the city’s namesake in which a family with pioneer roots is selected by the Perris Valley Museum and Historical Association and honored.
